Design and maintenance of an Unofficial Manchester United Football Club fan site.

As a Manchester United fan, inevitably my very first website in 1998 while I was studying at college was a Manchester United fan site. It was a fantastic experiment with animated gif’s, scrolling marquee’s, embedded music and everything else that goes towards making the “first website”.

Obviously, since then the site has moved on with numerous re-designs. Initially a static HTML site, it then moved on to use server side includes before using asp and connection to an access database. Since 2004 the site had grown in size and stature with an extremely popular forum community.

This led to problems of using an access database so in 2007, I made the step to upgrading the site to use a MySQL database in collaboration with PHP and the site will hopefully consider to grow for the foreseeable future.
