After reading this article, does this mean that for now i should start adding this Tag to my designs, to avoid any layout or IE8 Browser issues.

Yeah it does make sense and you know what I actually like the idea of it behaving like IE7 if its not targeted to behave like IE8. It means that all the old websites can still work!

I do agree but I also believe in graceful degradation. Peter Gasston wrote a nice article on this here…

I suppose my major concern is that this is less likely to convert people to using web standards and valid code. If people can just lock their code to an old version of Internet Explorer, then there’s no incentive for them to learn new things.

I think the main problem that a lot of people have with IE8 is that you’ll actually have to insert this meta tag to make IE8 behave like IE8, otherwise it will behave like IE7. Does that make any sense?

I have not yet read the A List Apart article and have only limited knowledge about this IE8 target BUT from what little I know so far, I think I like the idea you suggested about just targeting IE7, FF3 etc and not worry about using the Target to be able to use CSS3.

I personally think CSS3 should not be used until all browsers support it.
